The smoke continues to be a significant problem for allergy and asthma sufferers in and around Jacksonville.    “If you need to leave the house, breathing through a damp cloth may be helpful” according to Dr. Patrick DeMarco with Allergy and Asthma Specialists of North Florida.  “Also it is important that all asthmatics keep their rescue inhaler nearby because smoke is a potent asthma trigger. Be sure to notify for your allergy and asthma specialist immediately if the the smoke is making it difficult to control your asthma or allergies.” If you or your child has asthma be sure to limit your time outdoors and keep all windows and doors shut at all times.

Current air quality for Jacksonville is rated “unhealthy for sensitive individuals”, according to AirNow.
