Rain Brings Relief to Jacksonville Allergy Sufferers

by: Dr. Thomas Lupoli

Those with allergies to tree pollen may have noticed  improved allergy control over the past several days. That’s because the increased rain in the Jacksonville area has caused airborne tree pollen to become too heavy to travel long distances; essentially preventing  that pollen from reaching our noses and eyes. Although rain is quite effective at temporarily knocking the pollen out of the air, it also typically causes a reciprocal rise in mold spore production. Because allergy to mold spores is a fairly common problem for many allergy sufferers, some people may not have complete resolution of their respiratory and eye symptoms during rainy periods.

Pollen and mold spore counts for the greater Jacksonville area are updated daily (Monday- Friday) right here on our website to help you track what is in the air that day.
